Provision of Reproductive Health Education for Youth: The “Sauti ya Vijana” Project

The Sauti ya Vijana project, sponsored by the Women’s Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) in collaboration with UMATI Tanzania, is organized by Imara Trust Fund to provide essential reproductive health education to youth in the Ruaha community, Kilosa.

This education aims to assist young people, especially both girls and boys, in understanding important issues surrounding reproductive health, as well as their sexual and reproductive rights, so they can make informed and safe decisions about their future lives.

Objectives of the Sauti ya Vijana Project

  1. Providing Reproductive Health Education:
This project provides education on various reproductive health issues, including safe childbirth, menstrual cycles, the use of contraceptive methods, and the dangers of unprotected sex.

  2. Reducing Ignorance and Stigma:
By providing accurate and scientific information, the project aims to reduce ignorance and the stigma surrounding reproductive health. This will empower youth with the knowledge to protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections (STIs), as well as to understand their legal and health rights.

  3. Teaching Gender and Relationships:
The project also focuses on teaching youth about their gender rights, self-awareness, and maintaining respectful relationships. This includes providing guidance on rejecting gender-based violence and promoting respect and equality in relationships.

  4. Promoting Gender Equality:
The education provided aims to inspire youth to adopt a gender-equal perspective, where everyone can strive to achieve their goals regardless of gender.

Outcomes of the Project

Through initiatives like this, youth gain significant knowledge about reproductive health, which is a crucial way to reduce maternal and infant mortality related to childbirth and sexually transmitted diseases. It also improves the overall well-being of young people. Reproductive health education enables youth to make better decisions regarding their health and their families, preparing them for challenges they may face in their future lives.

Imara Trust Fund and Project Management

Imara Trust Fund, through the Sauti ya Vijana project, continues to ensure that youth receive crucial education about reproductive health, their rights, and strategies to protect themselves from challenges caused by a lack of proper knowledge. By collaborating with WGNRR and UMATI Tanzania, we ensure that this project reaches a wide range of youth and empowers them to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
